Dear Friend,
Service Skills Australia
Often when we talk about the service industries we don’t fully
understand the scale and diversity of what those industries
represent to the Australian economy and importantly the career
opportunities they provide. The service industry employs almost
2.5 million people across hospitality, tourism, sport and recreation,
retail, hairdressing, beauty, Pharmacy floristry etc.
These are dynamic industries; they offer an exciting range of fast paced,
challenging and rewarding careers.
Service Skills Australia held their conference this week in Sydney. The conference provided an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss the issues affecting the sector. Over 200 representatives from industry, government, unions and vocational education were present.
Listen to some of the thought provoking discussion and read Jeanette Allen (Service Skills Australia CEO)’s summary of the conference. Also, be sure to visit the Service Skills website to gain a greater understanding of the sectors and the career opportunities they offer.
