Queens Birthday Honours
for
Alan Grasset OAM and Barry Peddle PSM
Dear WorldSkills Supporter,
2 members of the WSA family were yesterday awarded honours in the Queens Birthday Honours list.
Alan Grasset, who has had an involvement with WSA since 1983 was awarded a medal (OAM) of the order of Australia in the General Division for service to vocational education and training, particularly in the plumbing industry. Alan has taken on many roles within WSA including National Technical Coordinator for the 29th WorldSkills International competition held in 1988 in Darling Harbour, Sydney. Following the competition in 1988, Alan has continued to be involved in WSA in a voluntary capacity assuming a variety of roles including judge, project designer, trainer, mentor and recently as a coordinator of the WorldSkills Champions Exchange Program. Perhaps Alan’s greatest legacy is the pioneering of the
Try’aTrade program while working with the Dusseldorp Skills Forum.
Barry Peddle, who has also had a long involvement with WSA at both the state (NSW) and national level was awarded the Public Service Medal (PSM) for outstanding public service in the NSW Public Sector, undertaking several strategic leadership roles within TAFE NSW. Barry has been a strong supporter of WSA and its programs and was a Board member in 2006 and 2007. Barry continues to be a strong advocate for WSA and remains a vital link between WSA and one of our largest partners, TAFE NSW.
Congratulations to both Alan and Barry from all involved with WorldSkills Australia. |
