Skillaroos Medallists Announced – Direct from Japan

Australia reaches 5th place in the world.

Results are in from the WorldSkills International Competition in Shizuoka, Japan! The presentation ceremony announced Australia’s 5th place in the world among 50 countries.

WorldSkills Australia is proud and privileged to announce the Skillaroos who have achieved great success in winning medals for their country.

Dale McMullen also received the Best of the Nation award.

All 27 members of the Skillaroos have shown great talent and dedication to achieve skills excellence over the past 12 months.

The Skillaroos’ team effort has improved Australia’s world ranking from 9th place, a legacy from the 2005 Helsinki team.

"This is a fantastic result for Australia. It shows the increase in value that we place on our skills and trades. All of these young people need to be held as role models for Australia." Said Mark Callaghan CEO of WorldSkills Australia.

WorldSkills Australia would like to thank the competitors and their devoted experts and team leaders for displaying such great team spirit and passion for their skills, which has made all aspects of the International Competition most memorable.
